Will the Pixel remove all my acne scars?

I never like to use the word “all” when discussing with a patient what is to be expected. I have always taken pride in giving a patient a realistic view of what can be expected after any treatment at my office. Due to the fact that all acne scars differ in size and depth, it is hard to say if “all” the scarring will be gone. For example, in a more severe case, most likely all the scarring will not be gone. However, a 65-75% improvement can be achieved in patient’s with severe acne scarring. I have found that this type of improvement with severe cases, ends up being quite a remarkable improvement for the patient and one they are really happy with. In those patients who have more minimal scarring, 80-90% improvement can typically be achieved. It is good to note that acne scarring does require multiple treatments in order to achieve the desired result.

How many treatments do I need to see results?

The amount of treatments needed depends on the problem that is being treated. For example, if a patient wants an overall refreshed skin appearance, then 1 treatment may be exactly what is needed. If a patient has been a smoker, and is looking for reduction of pores, as well as overall improved skin texture, the patient will probably require 2-3 treatments. If someone has a surgical scar or acne scarring, the minimum required treatment for these individuals is 3 treatments, and can be as many as 9-12 treatments. It is important to discuss this with Nurse Natausha, as she will be able to assess each person individually and develop a treatment plan. Package pricing is available for patients needing more than one treatment in order to achieve their desired result.

Is there any downtime after the Pixel resurfacing treatment?

Downtime varies per individual, but typically a person is red for 48-72 hours post treatment. All patients are treated at different settings based on the problem that is being treated. For example, acne treatments tend to use a higher setting and can cause a little more downtime. Aquaphor is applied to the skin post-treatment, and patients are asked to continue the application of aquaphor for 48 hours post-treatment. Aquaphor has the consistency of vaseline, so most patients choose to stay inside for the 48 hours they are required to wear it. After 48-72 hours, makeup can be applied. Redness can last for up to a week.
